PIRELLI WIDER TYRE TEST-3 FOR 2017

Wider tyre test 3 of 10
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain
6th-7th, September 2016

Testing and development of Pirelli’s new 2017-sized tyres is continuing this week, with Ferrari and Mercedes in action at Barcelona and Paul Ricard respectively, using adapted mule cars designed to simulate 2017 levels of downforce.
The new tyres are 25% wider than the current tyres at both the front and rear: part of a package of measures being introduced to make next year’s cars notably faster.
In 2017, the slick tyre sizes will be 305/670-13 (front) and 405/670-13 (rear).

Day 1
Kimi Räikkönen was at the wheel, completing 46 laps in the morning session and a further 65 in the afternoon. After some initial laps to adjust the car’s settings, testing focused on the Medium.

Day 2
Sebastian Vettel’s turn to take to the track for Scuderia Ferrari and he completed a total of 156 laps.
Sebastian continued with the programme begun yesterday by team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, focused on set-up work and testing the Medium dry compound tyres.
